Ductile iron casting is a casting process, and its product ductile iron castings are cast iron with spherical graphite obtained through spheroidization and inoculation treatment.
This process uses rare earth magnesium alloy as a spheroidizing agent and requires control of sulfur and phosphorus content. The temperature of the molten iron is higher than that of gray iron. After processing, the mechanical properties of ductile iron are improved, especially in plasticity and toughness, resulting in higher strength than carbon steel.
Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material developed in the 1950s, with comprehensive properties similar to steel.
